FAIRFIELD, CT. – The FDU Knights captured their fifth conference win of the season earlier today, taking down Sacred Heart in four sets. The victory comes after an NEC Championship clinching win yesterday, and improves the Knights' record to 11-12 and moves them to 5-5 in NEC play.
An early lead was the story of the first set, as the Burgundy and Blue opened with a 7-3 run against the Pioneers. Despite several comeback attempts, Sacred Heart was unable to close the gap as the Knights coasted to a 25-21 victory. FDU tallied four blocks on the set, as well as 14 kills and only seven errors for a hitting clip of .219.
Sacred Heart proved they were not going down without a fight, matching every FDU point in the second set before eventually pulling together a 7-3 run. The Knights were able to fight their way back, tying the score at 19-19. Aggressive offense and two timely kills by senior
Ethan Young aided in the set two victory of 25-23.
In a similar story to set two, it was back and forth for the opening of the third set. However, it was the Knights who took an early breakout lead which was closed by a fired up Sacred Heart team. The Pioneers were able to capitalize on their newfound energy and take set three 25-23.
Set four saw a dominate offensive performance from the Knights, who tallied an impressive 17 kills and only three errors for a hitting clip of .500. The strong hitting coupled with consistent defense was enough to secure the set and match victory with a score of 25-19.
Offensively, the Knights were paced by

Jose Angarita who dished out 49 assists, including his 1000 career assist.
