BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – FDU (2-14, 2-8) fell to LIU (9-7, 9-1) by a score of 10-3 on Wednesday afternoon. The win clinched a share of the NEC regular season title for LIU, while the loss marks the end of FDU's season.
Jordan Santana scored two of FDU's goals, bringing her season total to 23. The graduate student finishes her lone season as a Knight with 38 points, which ranked second on the team. Santana registered a point in all 16 matches in 2024.
The first half was something of a defensive slugfest between these two sides. LIU held a 15-6 advantage in the shot column, but seven first half saves from
Skylar Goodman kept the Knights in it. She would finish with ten on the day, marking the tenth time she has reached double-figure saves in a game this year.
After 30 minutes, the Sharks were ahead 2-1.
LIU kept up the pressure until it started resulting in goals. They scored the first six of the second half and solidified their command of the match.
Abigail McDonald closed out her sophomore season with a caused turnover and three ground balls.
FDU turned the ball over 18 times, while the Sharks coughed it up on 16 possessions. However, LIU earned the larger share of possessions thanks to winning 13 of 17 draw controls.
