FDU Announces Opening of Panos Fueling Station

HACKENSACK, N.J.- FDU proudly announced the completion and opening of the Panos Fueling Station for student-athletes on Tuesday afternoon.

The Panos Fueling Station is named in honor of former women's basketball student-athlete Catherine L. Panos '90. Upon her passing following a courageous battle against cancer in 2022, Panos, left an enduring legacy with a gift to FDU to help current and future Burgundy and Blue student-athletes. In her senior season on the hardwood, Panos earned Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete of Year and NEC Tournament Women's Basketball Most Valuable Player honors while leading FDU to its first conference title in 1990. After graduation, Panos went on to work in the healthcare field as a business analyst.

"We are so grateful that Cathy Panos has left her mark on FDU with this generous gift." said Bradford Hurlbut, Senior Associate VP/Director of Athletics. "Cathy's story will be shared with future generations of Knights. Her legacy will forever be preserved, while simultaneously enhancing the experiences of our current student-athletes."

The Panos Fueling Station, conveniently situated within the Rothman Lobby of the Bogota Savings Bank Center, will be readily accessible to student-athletes daily. In collaboration with Gatorade, FDU is committed to providing athletes with optimal nutrition to enhance their performance to the fullest extent.

In addition to the Panos Fueling Station, FDU Athletics has embarked upon roughly $2 million of facility enhancements over the last 12 months.

The renovation of the space was completed by Delta Interior Construction.
