TEANECK, N.J.- The FDU Knights (2-10, 1-5) were defeated by the Saint Francis U Red Flash (4-5, 3-1) by a score of 13-8 in Teaneck on Saturday afternoon.
Â
Brielle McInaw continued her scoring tear for FDU. She totaled her third-consecutive hat-trick and extended her goal streak to eight games. McInaw has scored 17 goals in that span and has a team-leading 20 on the season. Two of those goals were assisted by
Riley Eaton who also posted two goals for a four-point day. Eaton leads the Knights with 29 points.
Â
Nora Codianni,
Lane Mintchwarner, and
Kendal Hippert all caused two turnovers each in the game. As a team, FDU caused 10 turnovers and were the benefactors of 15 Red Flash turnovers overall. The Knights turned it over 15 times themselves.
Â
Codianni helped the Knights win 11 of 24 draw controls, claiming six for herself. This marked a season-best for the freshman in this department.
Â
A low-scoring first half saw the Red Flash get out to 5-1 lead. A timely goal from Eaton pulled FDU within three heading into the third period.
Â
Lindsey Felician struck for her ninth goal of the season not even three minutes into the second half and brought the Red Flash lead down to 5-3. However, this is as close as the Knights would get as they surrendered four of the next five goals and fell behind by five.
Â
The Knights continued to fight in the fourth period ripping off a 4-1 run sparked by two of McInaw's goals. This brought the game to 10-8. However, Saint Francis scored the last three and won it 13-10.
Â
FDU was outshot 32-25 in the loss.
Skylar Goodman made 10 saves on 20 shots on goal.
