TEANECK, N.J.- A slow start doomed FDU in a season opening 19-7 loss against Rider on Saturday afternoon in Teaneck. The Knights fall to 0-1 as Rider picks up their first win of the season in their program debut.
Selena Carrington scored two of the first three goals in the match as Rider jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Goals from
Jordan Santana and
Brielle McInaw brought the Knights to within one, but Rider scored three unanswered to end the first quarter holding a 6-2 lead.
The Broncs' lead grew to five before
Karly Dillabough cashed in her first-career goal for FDU to cut the lead down to four. FDU would not find the back of the net again until Santana found twine late in the first half. Rider ended the first half leading 13-4.
In the second half,
Nora Codianni scored her first two goals as a Knight and
Riley Eaton added one of her own. However, a steady Rider squad was able to close out a 19-7 victory.
Skylar Goodman made nine saves in the loss for FDU.
Shots and turnovers were the two biggest advantages for Rider on the stat sheet. They outshot FDU 38-23 and committed seven less turnovers in the win.

FDU will spend their Valentine's Day afternoon at Monmouth in a 1 p.m. showdown next Wednesday, February 14.
