BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – The Northeast Conference announced their first weekly honors of the 2024-25 Indoor Track and Field season on Wednesday. FDU was represented on the women's side, with
Nilaja Wiltshire taking home the Field Athlete of the Week Award.
Wiltshire earned her honor following an incredible sophomore debut in the Knights Mid-Week Clash on December 4. Wiltshire placed first in the women's shot put final, posting a distance of 13.96m. The next closest thrower in the competition came in with a distance of 12.18m, giving Wiltshire a comfortable cushion en route to her top finish.
The opening week honor marks the start of what should be an exciting sophomore campaign. Wiltshire is coming off of a freshman season that saw her dominate at the conference level. In her freshman outdoor season, Wiltshire was named to the All-NEC First Team, as well as the NEC All-Rookie team following a gold medal shot put performance in the NEC Championships.
Wiltshire and the Knights will be back in action on Friday, January 10, 2025, when they head to Staten Island, N.Y for the Spartan Invite.
