First Battle at Bogota Results in Knights Win, 61-50

HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU (5-13, 3-2) took on the Stonehill Skyhawks Friday night and came away with a 61-50 victory. The win marked the second-straight for the Knights.

The Knights shot 40.4% from the floor and were led by Teneisia Brown with 16 points on 7-13 shooting. The team was able to log three scorers in double-figures for the fourth straight game.

Brown also collected ten rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Adding to her performance tonight, Brown was also clutch with all of her buckets coming when the score was within five points.

Coming out of the half, the Knights were only up by two. FDU expanded that lead to ten after Brown made a pair of jumpers that were followed by buckets by Staci Williams and Abaigeal Babore. Despite the Skyhawks attempts to close in, Conklin was able to sew up the third with a shot in the paint that gave FDU their biggest lead of the game with 12.

Stonehill came back to the floor ready to make waves as they were able to cut the deficit down to five within five minutes, but their threat to steal the game was answered by buckets from Williams and Conklin which reignited the Knights spark to extend their lead to eight. This gave the Knights the breathing room they needed to close out the 11-point victory.

The key difference in the game was the Knights ability to create separation with steady offense and a presence on the glass as they out rebounded the Skyhawks 41-38. FDU also cashed in on Stonehill errors as they were able to outscore the Skyhawks 21-8 off turnovers.

Abby Conklin logged her 100th career three-pointer early in the third quarter when she put FDU ahead 35-32. With this triple, Conklin became the fourth current Northeast Conference women's basketball player to meet this milestone.
