Staci Williams was announced Wednesday as the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week. Williams is the first Knight to earn a major NEC weekly award this season.
The Holly Springs, N.C. product put together two strong performances as the Knights faced Stonehill and Saint Francis U. In the two games, Williams totaled 26 points and shot 10-13 (76.9%) from the line. Against Stonehill, Williams led FDU with a career-high 15 points. In the Knights win over Saint Francis U the freshman guard contributed 11 points that were a result from going 3-9 (33.3%) from the field and 2-3 (66.7%) from beyond the arc.
Staci Williams has led the team in four games this season coming against Rider, Seton Hall, Vanderbilt and Stonehill. She has shot 35-96 (36.5%) from the field and 21-26 (80.8%) from the line in total so far this season. Williams has played a major role for the Knights in her rookie year as she sits fourth on the team in points and fifth in minutes.
Williams returns to the floor with the rest of Gaitley's bunch on Friday January 19. The Knights will take on Stonehill at home and will try to avenge last weekend's loss. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
