TEANECK, N.J. - Entering his second season as the FDU baseball head coach,
Manny Roman announced Tuesday the arrival of Jim Donohue as an assistant coach. Donohue will primarily work with the Knights' infielders and catchers.
"We are excited to welcome Jim to our staff," said Roman. "His knowledge of the game and the energy he brings to the field is unmatched. I can't wait to see the impact he will have on our infielders and catchers this year."
Arriving at FDU after spending last season on-staff with Saint Peter's, Donohue is no stranger to Bergen County, having grown up in nearby Ridgefield Park. With the Peacocks, Donohue worked with hitters and served as the outfield coach and in the first base coach's box when Saint Peter's was at the plate.
"First and foremost, I would like to thank [head] Coach
Manny Roman for the opportunity," commented Donohue. "The FDUÂ baseball program has made tremendous strides in recent years with Manny at the helm and I am so excited to be an addition to his staff and learn from [assistant] Coach [Ethan] Newton and [assistant] Coach [Joe] Grassett as well. I grew up two towns over from campus, so becoming a Knight literally hits home for me and my family!"
Prior to moving to Jersey City, Donohue served as the assistant coach at East Central Community College for one season. In this role he developed position players defensively while also working with hitters, in addition to other duties including recruiting, field work, strength and conditioning and directing fall camps.
At Mississippi University for Women, Donohue developed practice plans, continued player development and coordinated recruiting operations in his posltion as a graduate assistant.
Addition experience includes serving as the head coach of the East Coast Sox program, camp director/instructor at the well-known Teels Baseball and Softball School and as the freshman baseball coach at Indian Hills High School in Northern New Jersey.
