NEW BRITAIN, Ct - FDU (25-15-1, 15-8) fell short against CCSU (25-8, 20-3) in the second game of the three-game series, 6-3. The win secured a playoff berth for the Blue Devils while dropping the Knights out of second place in the Northeast Conference standings.
Much like Friday's affair, it was a tight game throughout, with neither team opening a large lead.
Joan Sosa opened the scoring in the third inning crossing home on a wild pitch. Sosa then helped deliver a 2-0 lead for FDU in the fourth with a double to right-center, which drove home
TJ Werner.
The Blue Devils answered the call in the fourth, tying the game with a two-run home run. Then in the sixth, they took lead with a two-out rally.
Rich Racobaldo hit the CCSU batter, then a back-to-back doubles drove in two runs to give CCSU a 4-2 advantage,
FDU would respond in the seventh, ensuring a leadoff walk would not go to waste.
Tom Ruscitti drove in Sosa with a sacrifice fly to bring the deficit to one. The Burgundy and Blue had an opportunity in the eighth to tie the game, with the bases loaded and two outs, but Sosa popped out to end the inning. CCSU would take on insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run home run.
