Hackensack N.J.- The Fairleigh Dickinson Women's Soccer team (1-7-0) faced Binghamton (2-4-1) today, September 11th at 12 PM. FDU had a slow start to the game which they could not overcome in a 4-1 loss.
1st Half
- Binghamton jumped out to a quick start and opened the scoring in the 3' when Maya Anand scored to put Binghamton ahead 1-0.
- The Bearcats doubled their lead in the 9' when Peyton Gilmore broke away from the defense and slotted the ball into the top corner.
- Binghamton again scored in the 9' when Allison Falvo scored with a powerful outside the box shot.
- The Bearcats added to their lead with another outside of the box shot in the 17' from Victoria McKnight.
- FDU pushed hard to get a goal back with 9 shots in the half but could not find the back of the net.
2nd Half
- FDU opened the second half with energy and dominated the flow of play in the half.
- The Bearcats could not break the defense of FDU as they tightened up the amount of open spaces and played with tenacity.
- In the 88' the Burgundy and Blue found their breakthrough as sophomore Erica Petrie scored her second goal of the season assisted by Briana Esteves which made it 4-1.
"We let one simple mistake snowball into mistake after mistake and we were not sharp enough today." Stated head coach Eric Teepe. "We must regroup, we know that Howard is a difficult team especially after we knocked them out of the playoffs last year, they will want their revenge"
FDU heads on the road for the first time in four games as they travel to Washington D.C. to face Howard Thursday, September 15th at 5 PM. After a tough loss today, the team will look to turn around their fortunes as they focus on conference play. The game will be broadcasted on NEC Front Row where you can tune in and watch the game.
