Knights Welcome Ray Savage as Director of Basketball Operations

HACKENSACK, N.J. - FDU men's basketball head coach Tobin Anderson announced the addition of Ray Savage to his program's staff on Thursday morning in the role of Director of Basketball Operations.

A native of Staten Island, N.Y., Savage joins FDU from Georgia Highlands (NJCAA - GCAA) where he spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the Chargers. At Georgia Highlands, Savage evaluated prospective student-athletes in-person and virtually, coordinated high school recruiting and helped conduct on-campus visits, in addition to opponent scouting reports, skill development and video coordination.

"Ray is a huge addition to our staff," said Anderson. "As a former college player, coupled with his established coaching experience, Ray is going to positively impact every aspect of FDU men's basketball."

Savage, a former student-athlete at Staten Island (NCAA Division III - CUNYAC), served as the assistant director of men's basketball operations at Fordham (NCAA Division I - A-10) for one campaign and was responsible for coordinating team meals, gameday and practice setup for men's basketball, handled video operations using Synergy Express and Sports Code and supervised student managers.

Off the court, Savage administered the Rams' Twitter and Instagram accounts, managed the complimentary ticket list and worked alongside the Fordham Athletics academic advising office to make master calendars for student-athletes' class schedules.

Prior to making the jump over to the collegiate ranks, Savage served as an assistant boys basketball coach at St. Joseph by the Sea High School for the 2018-19 season.

"I am beyond grateful for the opportunity Coach Anderson has given me to join his staff here at FDU," remarked Savage. "I look forward to helping instill the same winning culture and success that Coach [Anderson] had at St. Thomas Aquinas here at FDU."

Playing two seasons of collegiate basketball with the Dolphins to end his collegiate career, Savage spent two campaigns on the roster at Misericordia (NCAA Division III - MAC Freedom) and was an NCAA tournament participant his freshman year. Returning home to Staten Staten in 2016, Savage was named the Men's Basketball Coach's Award recipient and appeared in two NCAA tournaments with the Dolphins.
