Jackson's 19 Points Not Enough in Loss to LIU

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – FDU (11-20, 8-10) erased an early 11-point deficit, but could not hang on in a 74-60 loss to LIU (21-10, 15-3) on Saturday afternoon. The defeat marks the conclusion of FDU's regular season.

GAME STORY

FDU battled through an up‑and‑down first half, overcoming an early 9–0 deficit to pull within 31–30 at halftime. After LIU jumped ahead quickly, Taeshaud Jackson ignited FDU's offense with aggressive drives, scoring 15 first‑half points and helping stabilize the Knights after multiple early turnovers. Key baskets from David Jevtic, Joey Niesman, and a buzzer‑beating three from Eric Parnell allowed FDU to erase an 11‑point hole and close the period on a 6–0 run. Despite LIU's defensive pressure—particularly from Greg Gordon and Jomo Goings—FDU stayed within striking distance by winning the second‑chance‑points battle (7–4) and matching LIU's paint production (18–16).

The second half opened with promise as FDU briefly took its first lead, 32–31, on another Jackson layup and later stretched the advantage to 36–33—their largest of the day. However, LIU responded with a string of threes from Fuller and Porter‑Brown, flipping momentum and sparking a decisive run. Though FDU continued to fight—highlighted by Martynov's interior scoring, Parnell's timely threes, and Jackson finishing with a game‑high 19 points—the Knights couldn't keep pace with LIU's 66.7% second‑half shooting. A 12–0 LIU burst pushed the hosts ahead by double digits, and FDU never recovered, ultimately falling 74–60.
