SOMERSET, N.J. -Two Fairleigh Dickinson men's golfers collected All-NEC honors as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. Freshman Leon Heitz was named NEC Men's Golf Rookie of the Year while senior Jaime Julve was selected to the All-NEC First Team.
This marks Julve's second All-NEC recognition after earning Second-Team accolades last season. Heitz was also tabbed to the All-NEC First Team in his inaugraul season in the Burgundy and Blue.
Heitz competed in all 10 tournaments this season, boasting a stroke average of 73.8 in the process. Heitz's freshman campaign was highlighted by a second place finish at the NEC Championship on 5/1, carding a three-round score of 221 (77, 70, 74). The Müster, Germany native recorded three additional top-10 finishes, including a second place finish in the opening event of the fall season. Heitz holds a team-best one-round score of 66 (-6) and has shot at or below par on 10 separate occasions this season.
Julve is the only other Knight who saw action in every tournament this season, recording a team-best stroke overage of 73.6. The senior logged five top-10 finishes, including a win at the Carpetbagger Classic on 3/20 and sixth place finish at the Nassau Invitational on 10/25. The Ibiza, Spain native logged a season-best 69 (-3) at the Hartford Invitational on 9/25, finishing 11 additional rounds at or below par this season.
Heitz and Julve recently led FDU to a fourth place finish at the NEC Championship.
