ELLICOTT CITY, Md. – The Knights concluded their season with a podium finish this weekend at the 2026 NEC Men's Golf Championships, held at Turf Valley Resort. They placed 3rd of 12 with a total of +17 for the 3 rounds. Finding themselves trailing slightly at the end of each round, the men were unable close the gap on 1st place, but put on a respectable performance nonetheless.
As he did for many events in his freshman year, Pietro Piccoli set the pace for his teammates in Maryland this week, finishing on -1 for the tournament, earning him 3rd place individually. The week looked bleak for Piccoli early on as he began his tournament with 4 bogeys in the first 4 holes, but cleaned up the card for the rest of the round, recording 3 birdies without another blemish. With an eagle-birdie run at the turn in the final round on holes 9 and 10, he showed signs of putting pressure on the individual leaders; however, he could not quite keep this momentum going. Ending the round on -2, he secured his third under-par tournament during his freshman campaign.
Junior
Matus Kudlac ended his spring semester on a high note with a 4th-place finish on +3. The Slovak native returned to his consistent ways this week with rounds of 73, 71, 72. Big numbers were kept at bay, with Kudlac recording just one double bogey over three rounds. He made sure to take advantage of the par 5s at Turf Valley Resort, playing them in -6 for the week, a score that only 2 others in the field could better.
Senior Kaung Kyaw rounded out his collegiate career with a 3-round total of +8, finishing 17th. The best of the week came early for Kyaw after a level par opening round, which featured a -4 run over 5 holes at the turn. Since joining the Knights at the beginning of last spring, Kyaw has left a positive mark on the team and will be sorely missed for the Burgundy & Blue next August.
