TEANECK, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson's outfielder Justin Sierra and right-handed pitcher Ethan Rembish have been named Northeast Conference Player and Co-Pitcher of the Week; league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Sierra homered Friday and Saturday and drove in runs for the Knights in three of the four games last week. The Bronx native finished the week with seven runs driven in, five runs scored, helping FDU to win its second NEC series of the season. In the first game against Bryant, Sierra went 2-3, blasting two home runs and three runs. Sierra finished 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, a double, and a home run for game two.
Through 31 games this year, Sierra holds a .287 batting average and a .378 on-base percentage. He has registered 25 runs, 24 RBI, and 31 hits.
Rembish came in the sixth inning of game two of the series to earn his second season victory against the Bryant Bulldogs. He finished with 3.0 shutout innings pitched on zero hits and zero walks while striking out a career-high six batters.
The Southington, Conn. native finished the 2021 campaign with a 14.54 ERA, a .273 batting average against, and four strikeouts in 8.2 innings pitched.
Following Saturday night's start, Rembish now owns a career 2-0 record with a 3.52 ERA, .192 BAA, and 13 strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched.
Infielder Tommy Verga, catcher George Rosales, Sierra and Rembish were recognized as prime performers.
This weekend, the Knights return to action when they face Mount St. Mary's in their third conference series, beginning on Friday at 3 p.m.
