The Knights earned an automatic berth for the first time in school history after clinching the NEC Regular Season Championship title in late February. Under NEC Coach of the Year Angelika Szumilo, the team recorded a program-best 15 wins in regular season conference play with a notable sweep over fellow postseason team Mount St. Mary's.
FDU brings three All-NEC performers, including Player of the Year Madison Stanley who leads with an average 12.7 points per game. Chloe Wilson will also appear as a weapon for the Knights, having secured a spot on the NEC All-Tournament team after recording a double-double in the NEC Semifinal with 13 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high six steals.
Seton Hall accepted an at-large invitation having won 11 of their last 13 games in conference play. Led by head coach Anthony Bozzella in his eighth season, the Pirates roster features three All-Big East performers, including unanimous first-team selection Lauren Park-Lane. The junior guard averages 17.6 points per game, notching a career-high 33 points at Villanova in February.
The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the second round of the WNIT to take on the winner of Friday's first round matchup against Stony Brook and VCU.
