CHARLESTON, S.C. -The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (0-1, 0-0 NEC) was unable to hold off The Citadel in its first game of the year on Friday, falling 8-1 at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park in the first of three games this weekend between the teams.

- The Citadel took the lead first, with Ben Hutchins knocking one out of the park in the fifth inning.
- Milleville replaced Evangelista on the mound for the Knights in the sixth inning.
- In the top of the seventh inning, Tommy Verga brought in the first run of the season for FDU. In the bottom of the seventh, the Bulldogs threatened with runners on second and third with two outs, grad transfer Evan Stewart enters to get the Knights out of trouble moving onto the next inning with two bulldogs left on base.
- The Citadel added 7 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, concluding the game with an 8-1 win.
