Baseball Falls in Game One of Three-Game Series at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. -The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team (0-1, 0-0 NEC) was unable to hold off The Citadel in its first game of the year on Friday, falling 8-1 at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park in the first of three games this weekend between the teams.

How it Happened 

  • Evangelista started the game for the Knights, Cameron Reeves started for the Bulldogs.
  • The Citadel took the lead first, with Ben Hutchins knocking one out of the park in the fifth inning. 
  • Milleville replaced Evangelista on the mound for the Knights in the sixth inning. 
  • In the top of the seventh inning, Tommy Verga brought in the first run of the season for FDU. In the bottom of the seventh, the Bulldogs threatened with runners on second and third with two outs, grad transfer Evan Stewart enters to get the Knights out of trouble moving onto the next inning with two bulldogs left on base.
  • The Citadel added 7 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, concluding the game with an 8-1 win.

The Knights' stay in Charleston continues with two games at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park tomorrow, February 19, beginning at 3:00 p.m., and Sunday, February 20 with the first pitch scheduled at 11:30 a.m.
