HACKENSACK, N.J. - The FDU women's volleyball team (3-6) will be back in the Rothman Center on Tuesday to host Garden State rival NJIT (1-7) at 7 p.m.
Knights Outlook
FDU is looking to bounce back after dropping three matches on Friday and Saturday at the Friar Classic in Providence, R.I. Missing two leading attackers, the Knights struggled to sustain momentum against their opponents.
Graduate student Miriam Stingl landed a spot on the Friar Classic All-Tournament team as she fueled the Knights on both sides of the ball. Posting multiple season highs against Saint Peter's, Stingl contributed 30 kills, 22 digs and five blocks on the weekend.
Anchoring FDU throughout the weekend were freshmen setters Hannah Schmidt, Megan Bushnell and exchange student Pauline Giordano. Schmidt put up a combined 58 assists against Saint Peter's and Providence while Bushnell dished out 26 against Binghamton. In her first appearance as a Knight, Giordano posted 17 assists and three aces against Saint Peter's.
Scouting NJIT
FDU and NJIT have a 14-year history with their last match up taking place in the Rothman Center in 2019. The Highlanders were ranked seventh in the America East Volleyball Preseason Poll and will come to Hackensack off three losses at the Rutgers Tournament last weekend.
NJIT is led by three-year head coach Pedro Trevino. Leading attackers include junior Adriana Goetz-Morales, who tallied 18 kills for the Highlanders in last weekend's tournament. On the defense, junior Courtney Branch dominates at the net with 15 blocks on the weekend and a season-high eight blocks against Lafayette.
From Coach France
"After a tough weekend in Rhode Island, we return to the Rothman with a chance to play a New Jersey rival. We've been competitive in the past with NJIT, and we look forward to getting back on a winning track."
