Last Time Out
The Knights split a two-game series against Mount St. Mary's, with the Knights winning game one and falling in game two. In the second game of the series, sophomore Maria Roters notched the first triple-double in program history dating back to 1990 with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in the loss to the Mount. The 10 assists were the most by a Knight since 2016, when Kiana Brown dished out 10 helpers. Senior Madison Stanley also contributed 21 points on an efficient 9-13 shooting. Stanley also connected on three three-pointers and blocked two shots. Junior Madeline Selvaggi grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds against the Mount. The Knights shot 40.7 percent from the floor and connected on eight three-pointers.

Scouting the Knights
FDU (8-5, 4-4 NEC) moved back to .500 in conference play with a split against Mount St. Mary's last week. In game one, the Knights held the Mount to its lowest point total of the season. The Knights defense ranks second in the NEC in points allowed per contest with an average of only 59.9 in 13 games. Offensively, FDU has averaged 58.3 points per night. Stanley leads the team in points per night with an average of 13.5 and shoots 49.2 percent from the floor. The senior also ranks second on the Knights in rebounds per game with 5.5. Roters won NEC Player of the Week on January 26 for her performances against Merrimack. The sophomore averages 11.1points per contest and leads the team in field goal percentage as she shoots 52.7 percent from the field. Roters also recorded the first triple-double in women's basketball history, dating back to 1990.

Coach Szumilo's Thoughts
"Mount is one of the top offensive teams in the league, they have multiple players who can hurt you at different spots on the floor and they did just that today," stated Coach Szumilo after the game. "We were able to still hold them below their average in both games. I am very proud of our team's effort in that respect because this is what we want to be known for."
"Unfortunately for us today today Mount was the better team. They made shots when they needed to and we just didn't seem to get in a rhythm offensively and that is my fault."
"Maria and Madison continue to provide us with much needed scoring. Madison had a great second half and she shot the ball well from outside. Maria affects the game in so many ways. She can defend any position, rebound, score, and pass. I am very happy for Maria's hard work resulting in a triple-double today."

What's Next

After the two-game road trip against LIU, FDU will travel to Brooklyn for a two-game series against St. Francis Brooklyn. The two-game road stint will begin on Tuesday, February 9 at 4:00 p.m.
