Scouting the Jaspers
The Jaspers are coming off of a victory over a fellow NEC foe, as they beat LIU by nine points on Thanksgiving Eve. Picked to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Poll, Manhattan have started the season strong with a 3-2 record, including two wins in their two games at home this season that also included a 20-point victory over Army West Point. The Jaspers have been paced by two Preseason All-MAAC selections. Graduate student Courtney Waley was a selection to the First Team, and is averaging an impressive double-double, with 12.2 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. Senior guard Dee Dee Davis was selected to the Second Team and currently leads her team in points per game with 13.6.
Scouting the Knights
The Knights have now started up their first winning streak of the season, following up a 31-point victory at Cornell with a ten-point win at home over NJIT. The Knights have been paced by the stellar play of Chloe Wilson, who scored a career-high 24 points in the win against NJIT on 9-for-12 shooting from the floor. Her 14.6 points per game leads the team and is good for fifth in the NEC in the early stages of the season, while her 54% field goal percentage leads all players with a minimum of five field goals made per game. Wilson has been aided by Madison Stanley, who leads the team in rebounds (6.2) and blocks (1.8) per game, and leads the NEC in the latter category. Scoring-wise, Stanley is also averaging 7.6 points per game and chipped in nine points to the Knights cause against NJIT. As a team, the Knights lead the NEC in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 38.5% as a team from deep, and also lead the conference in assist/turnover ratio at 0.85.
What's Next
The Knights return home where they will play six of their next seven games, starting by welcoming Binghamton to the banks of the Hackensack on Wednesday, December 1, at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on NEC Front Row.
