READING, Pa. – The 17th-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson women's bowling team finished out the Chestnut Hill Baker Classic by placing second out of 14 teams, winning two of three matches on Sunday.
The Knights (45-31) started out with a win over Kutztown, 4-1, to advance to the title match, but FDU then fell to no. 18 Delaware State in the final, 4-2. The Knights also earned a win over New Jersey City, ending the three-day tournament with a record of 10-3.
FDU totaled 3,102 pins in 15 games in the final day of the event, averaging 206.8 pins per game. The Knights combined to score 12,796 pins over the weekend with an average of 196.9 pins per game over 65 games. Senior

Against Kutztown, FDU started out by filling all but one frame to go with eight strikes to win game one 236-197. FDU kept the momentum going into the second game, winning 225-168 with Chrzanowski closing out the victory with a 10th-frame turkey. The Golden Bears then took the third game in a close 180-178 battle, with the Knights making a late surge that fell just short of overtaking Kutztown's lead.
The Knights retaliated by striking on six of the first seven frames of the next game on their way to a 236-191. In the fifth game, FDU started by filling the first five frames, but Sherman and Chrzanowski came up clutch down the stretch with two big fills to push the Knights to a 192-156 victory that sealed the match.
In the title bout versus Delaware State, the Knights filled all but one of the first 10 frames, but the Hornets mounted a late charge to win the first game 213-202. FDU bounced back with seven strikes in the next game to win 207-198, but the Hornets then responded with a 196-192 win in the third game, pulling ahead in the 10th frame.
Delaware State also captured a point in the fourth game, winning 193-187 to take a 3-1 lead in the match. The Knights rallied in the fifth game, hitting strikes on nine of 10 first rolls to total 278 pins and win 278-174. FDU, however, could not keep their momentum in the sixth game, falling 203-171 as the Hornets clinched the match and the tournament trophy.
FDU also won an inconsequential match to the bracket standings, defeating New Jersey City 4-0. A lineup of sophomore

Deborah Epps bowled three straight games with over 200 pins (210, 204, 204) to stake FDU to a 3-0 advantage, and the Knights then finished out the game with a 180-129 win with MacLeod, Spring, Hart, Sherman and Chrzanowski playing the final 10 frames.
FDU returns to action in two weeks for the last Northeast Conference regular-season meet of the season, where teams will compete in Baker best four-of-seven games at Thirty Strikes in Stratford, N.J.
