STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's track and field senior
Madeline Price and sophomore
Jodi Alston competed at the Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational on Friday night at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex
RESULTS
The Knights returned to action for the first time and to the same complex since winning the 2020 NEC Indoor Track and Field Championship.
Price, the 2020 NEC Champion in the long jump, triple jump, and 60 meter event, continued her momentum from a week ago by breaking her own school record in the long jump. The NEC Championship MVP leapt her record-breaking mark of 6.13 meters on her second attempt.
"Madeline continues to excel every time she steps into competition," said head coach
Sharlene Milwood-Lee. "I am looking forward to the ECAC's and seeing what she is capable of doing with fresh legs."
Price's previous-best mark of 6.04 meters was already the program record, but she broke her own record by .09 meters on Friday. Price won the event and defeated 12 other athletes to earn the victory. Price improved her lead in the NEC by .26 meters and the senior ranks seventh among all of the IC4A/ECAC Championships in the long jump. The senior also qualified for the triple jump, 60 meter, and 200 meter events.
Alston also ran for the Knights in the 60 meter event and reached the finals. After her 7.77 second time in the preliminaries, the sophomore finished fifth overall in the final with a 7.78 mark.
FDU will compete again next weekend when they send athletes to the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston on Saturday and Sunday.
