DAYTON, Ohio – Fairleigh Dickinson bowler
Karsyn Lukosius has advanced to the semifinals of the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championship, winning each of her two matches Wednesday.
The recent FDU graduate, who finished eighth among all 24 bowlers in the qualifying stages, received a bye from the first round of bracket play on Tuesday, and then defeated fellow NEC rival Sarah Gill from Saint Francis U in her first match Wednesday, 651-547. Lukosius then battled past Bailey Delrose from Maryville, in a 597-567 match. The win advanced her to the national semifinal round against Jordan Newham of Vanderbilt, which takes place on Saturday, April 20.
FDU sophomores
Amanda Chrzanowski and
Aimee Sherman also played in quarterfinal matches on Wednesday but were each eliminated in their respective matches. Chrzanowski dropped her match to Samantha Laird from Hastings by one pin, 556-555, while Sherman suffered a 551-539 loss to Rachel Strogin from UAB.
Lukosius becomes the first Knight to qualify for the ISC semifinals since Morgan Brown did so three years ago. Brown won her semifinal match before falling in the national championship by five pins.
The national semifinals will be televised on Saturday on CBS Sports Network at 8:30 a.m., with the final match also broadcasted on CBS Sports Network starting at 11 a.m.
