"I was very happy with the performance today and was happy to see our seniors have success today," said head coach
Sharlene Milwood-Lee. "I felt there were a lot of positives we took out of today and got a better understanding of areas we can improve in following the break."
Smith recorded a first place finish in the 55 meter dash with a mark of 7.15 seconds. The senior also placed first in the long jump with her leap of 5.79 meters. Smith also competed in the 4x400 meter relay as the third leg and helped the team finish second with a time of 4:13.04. She was joined by sophomore
Daniella Griffith, junior
Gabrielle Charles, and Price.
Price posted two second place finishes in the Knights Classic in the 55 meter dash (7.30) and long jump (5.75 meters). Fellow seniors Searles (5:22.82) in the mile and Kipkorir (20:19.31) in the 5,000 meter run posted victories.
The Burgundy and Blue opened the day with a victory in the long jump as sophomore
Dominyka Leskauskaite recorded a mark of 11.38 meters in the triple jump. The Knights success continued with first place finishes in the 300 meter dash by junior
Shanice Watkins (40.72), Charles (1:04.82) in the 400 meter dash, and junior
Jazmyn Lewis (1:18.36) in the 500 meter event.
In the 4x400 meter relay, sophomore
Shaniyah Caul, freshman
Shantelle Riley, Watkins, and Lewis posted a victory with their mark of 4:10.43. Freshman Stacy Saint-Paul set a PR in the shot put with a toss of 11.68 meters on her third throw to clinch an FDU win in the event.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, January 11, at 9 a.m. when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete in the Early Birds Classic.
