HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson volleyball team dropped a home Northeast Conference match 3-0 to Central Connecticut State 25-18, 25-16, 25-19 at the Rothman Center on Saturday night.
The Burgundy and Blue were led by junior outside hitter
Magdalena Maksimovic, who tallied 11 kills in the loss, while sophomore
Brooke Stevens contributed seven kills and a pair of blocks.
Madelyn Kaprelyan and Isabelle Roufs paced the Blue Devils (10-12, 6-4 NEC) with 12 and 10 kills, respectively in the win.
The first set saw the Knights register their highest attack percentage of the contest as they recorded 12 kills with four errors (.235) however, the Blue Devils finished with .417 attack rate tallying 18 kills with just three errors as they took the frame. After a kill by sophomore
Sophia Spiridonakos, the Knights trailed 17-15 in the set but the Blue Devils responded with six straight points en route to the 1-0 match lead.
In the second, the Knights jumped out to a 6-3 lead aided by two kills from Maksimovic. The Blue Devils would score seven of the next eight points and establish a lead they would not relinquish.
Stevens propelled the Knights to an 8-1 lead in the third set but the Blue Devils erased the seven-point deficit by scoring 11 of the next 15 points. Kaprelyan spearheaded the attack with a pair of kills as the road team claimed the lead and never trailed again.
The Knights are back in action next weekend when they host St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday, November 1 at the Rothman Center. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
