Volleyball Swept at Robert Morris on Friday Night

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Fairleigh Dickinson volleyball team fell in straight sets (25-8, 25-11, 25-9) at Robert Morris on Friday night.

Freshman Mujay Mambu topped the scoresheet for the Knights (1-18, 0-5 NEC) with four kills, while junior Allison Koester totaled 14 digs in the loss.

The Colonials (15-3), who remain unbeaten in NEC action at 5-0, received a match-high nine kills from Alyssa Hudak and 26 assists from Whitney Brown in the win.

After the Knights registered the first point of the night, the Colonials responded by scoring nine of the next 10 and established a 9-2 lead. The Burgundy and Blue would slice the deficit to three, 11-8, before the Colonials closed out the opening set by scoring the final 14 points.

The momentum continued for the home team in the second frame as they stretched a 10-6 advantage to 16-7 aided by a pair of kills from Hudak. With the comfortable lead in hand, the Colonials remained in control and took a 2-0 match lead.

The third set saw the Colonials score the first four points en route to a 9-3 lead. Back-to-back kills by Victoria Demmene and Mambu temporarily cooled the attack before the home team answered with seven straight tallies as they comfortably finalized the straight-set victory.

The Knights are back in action tomorrow when they face Saint Francis U. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m. in Loretto, Pa.
