Women's Soccer Travels to Lehigh Thursday

TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team continues its road swing to start the season with a matchup at Lehigh Thursday at noon.

ENTERING THE KNIGHT
The Knights are 1-1 entering Thursday's match, winning their season opener over Marshall before falling to Providence in their most recent match this past Sunday.

OH MY CHRISTA
Freshman defender Christa Waterman is the reigning Northeast Conference rookie of the week after scoring FDU's goal in its 1-0 win over Marshall. The back has been a big part of a Knights defense that has allowed only one goal in 180 minutes to start the season, having started and played every minute of both matches.

GREAT WALL OF FITZGERALD
Junior goalkeeper Amanda Fitzgerald was named an NEC prime performer Monday after finishing the week with nine saves and only one goal allowed in 180 minutes of action. She saved four shots in earning her eighth career shutout against Marshall, then added five more stops at Providence. Fitzgerald has lowered her career goals against average to 1.69, good for fourth in Knights history.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
Lehigh opened its 2018 season with a 2-0 loss on the road to Saint Joseph's (Pa.) this past Sunday, allowing two second-half goals in the defeat. The Mountain Hawks managed only three shots on goal in their opener. Sophomore goalkeeper Miranda Royds started the game in net and made one save in the first half, while junior Sam Miller played the second half in net and allowed both goals in earning the loss. Junior forward Maggie Wadsworth was named preseason All-Patriot League before the season began, and Lehigh was picked to finish fifth in the Patriot League preseason poll.

SERIES SCORE
Thursday's match will be the fourth meeting between FDU and Lehigh in women's soccer and the first since 2009. Lehigh holds a 3-0 advantage in the series, with all three previous matches ending by a score of 1-0.

CAREER FIRSTS
Along with Waterman scoring her first career goal against Marshall, freshman Lea Egner recorded her first career assist on the Waterman score. Also making their collegiate debuts in the opener were freshmen Madelyn Robbins, Paula Ruess, Pauliina Talaslahti and Isabelle Udovc.
