HACKENSACK, N.J. – Continuing its road trip through upstate New York, the Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team hopes to snap a two-game skid at Colgate Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The game will be streamed live for free on the Patriot League Network website, and live stats will also be available at gocolgateraiders.com.
ENTERING THE KNIGHT
The Knights (2-4) made a spirited comeback run but ultimately fell short of winning the game in a 74-53 loss at Binghamton Friday night. FDU trailed by 10 points in the second period and proceeded to go on a 7-0 run to close the first half and then went up by three on a "and-one" layup from senior
Natalie Zamora. The Knights defensively stopped the Bearcats on nine of 10 possessions during that stretch, forcing four key turnovers. Binghamton, however, ended the third period on a 7-0 run to go up by nine after three quarters and extended their advantage in the fourth to help win the game.
HOT START
FDU made each of their first three shots of the game at Binghamton, all three-point tries, and shot 50 percent from the field in the first period. Senior
Peniel M'Bikata made each of her first four field goals (two of them three-pointers) and finished the first half with 12 points.
WE STAND WITH STANLEY
Sophomore
Madison Stanley has scored 11 points in two straight games and consequently reached a new career-high, passing her previous best of 10 points set earlier this year vs. Rutgers-Newark. Stanley is third in the NEC in field goal percentage (53.1), tied for fifth with teammate
Lindsey Mack in blocks per game (1.2) and 13th in the league in rebounding (5.5) while averaging 8.5 points per game, second on the Knights behind M'Bikata (11.3 ppg).
THE MARCH TO 500
As a program, the Knights are two wins away (498) from reaching 500 ... The team has played in a total of 1,168 games since beginning the program in 1977. Over the previous 498 victories, the Knights have won 214 NEC games, and 120 games in
Peter Cinella's tenure as head coach. A win against Colgate would set the Knights up to possibly reach their 500th program victory in their next game on Wednesday, December 5, at Army West Point.
STEALS AND BLOCKS
The Knights lead the NEC in steals per game (11.3) and turnover margin (+4.6) and are second in the league in blocks per game (4.7) as a team. Zamora is tied for the league lead with 2.0 steals per game, and M'Bikata is fourth with 1.8 swipes per game after recording four steals at Binghamton. Nationally, the Knights are 43rd in Division I in blocks per game and 44th in steals per game.
SERIES SCORE
FDU leads the all-time series with Colgate, 3-1, in a series that began in 1986. The Knights have won each of the last two meetings, including last season (61-51) in the Rothman Center. Junior
Lauren Francillon scored nine points and grabbed 12 rebounds off the bench. FDU's only loss against Colgate was when the teams last played in Hamilton, N.Y., 69-68 in overtime.
SCOUTING COLGATE
The Raiders (2-4) dropped their previous game to Siena, 55-53, to snap a two-game winning streak after starting the year 0-3. The Raiders tied the game in the final minute but allowed a game-winning layup with eight seconds remaining in suffering the loss. Junior guard Rachel Thompson leads the team in points per game (12.2), rebounds per game (8.8), assists per game (3.8), steals per game (2.3), field-goal percentage (50.0) and free throw attempts (18). Last season, the Raiders finished 7-23 (3-15 in the Patriot League) and return all five starters from that team. Colgate was picked to finish 10th in the league's preseason poll.

Two other NEC schools are in action on Sunday, with Robert Morris playing at Iowa and Bryant playing in the Rhode Island Tip-Off Tournament against either Rhode Island or Providence. St. Francis Brooklyn (4-3) currently sits in first place in the league standings, followed by Sacred Heart (3-3) and Mount St. Mary's (2-3), with FDU and Bryant (2-4) tied for fourth place.
