Big Match for Women's Soccer Sunday at Bryant

TEANECK, N.J. – Coming off its first Northeast Conference victory of the season, the Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team looks to extend the win streak when it travels to Bryant Sunday for a 1 p.m. match in Smithfield, R.I.

The game between two of the top four teams in the NEC standings will be streamed live on NEC Front Row and live stats will be provided by Bryant for the contest.

ENTERING THE KNIGHT
The Knights (3-7-3, 1-1-1 NEC) played one of its best all-around matches of the season in defeating Robert Morris, 3-1, at University Stadium. Sophomore Andrea Garcia scored the opening goal and then assisted on the game-winner, sending a free kick that connected with sophomore Viktorija Miseljic. Freshman Noam Kedem added an insurance goal in the closing minutes of the game. The Knights allowed Robert Morris to only take four shots in the match. The win moved the Knights to fourth place in the NEC standings with four points.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Kedem earned Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honors after scoring goals in back-to-back games. The freshman defender also played a big part in helping limit the NEC's leading goal-scorer to only one shot on goal in 90 minutes. Kedem is the second Knight freshman to earn the weekly honor from the NEC this season, with freshman Christa Waterman receiving the accolade after the first week of play.

MILESTONE MOMENT
Senior Elma Kolenovic notched her 50th assist of her career last week in a 2-1 loss to Central Connecticut State. She became the fifth Knight to ever reach the 50-point milestone in the process. Kolenovic in her career has 19 goals and 13 assists, both of which rank in the top five in FDU history. Her next point moves her into a tie for fourth all-time, and her next goal would tie her for third-most goals.

PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS
Sunday's contest between FDU and Bryant could provide big ramifications for reaching the Northeast Conference Tournament. A win for FDU moves them into a tie for third place with Bryant with four matches remaining, while a Bryant win would separate the two teams by six points. Central Connecticut holds first place with nine points, with contests against Bryant and third-place Saint Francis U still remaining. FDU also still has to play Saint Francis U in a home match on October 20.

SERIES SCORE
FDU leads the all-time series against Bryant, 6-3-1. The Knights own a six-game winning streak over the Bulldogs dating back to the 2013 season, including a 2-0 shutout win at home during the 2017 regular season and a 2-1 victory in the Northeast Conference semifinals last season. FDU is 2-2 when playing in Smithfield, winning each of the last two contests. The Knights have outscored the Bulldogs 14-2 during the six-game streak.

SCOUTING BRYANT
The Bulldogs (6-4-1, 2-0-1 NEC) are currently second in the NEC with seven points. Bryant tied its previous match against Saint Francis U, 1-1, after giving up a goal late in the second half. The draw extended the current unbeaten streak to four for the Bulldogs. Senior Cayla D'Amico leads the team with eight points on three goals and two assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Meghan Dalton, the reigning NEC Defensive Player of the Week, has played every minute in net, making 46 saves while allowing 14 goals for a 1.24 goals-against average in 1013 minutes. Entering the season, Bryant was picked fourth in the NEC Preseason Poll.

AROUND THE NEC
Central Connecticut State and Sacred Heart are coming off victories in their previous matches and face each other Friday night. Robert Morris and Mount St. Mary's also play Friday, with Wagner and LIU Brooklyn taking the field Saturday in Brooklyn. Saint Francis U also hosts Mount St. Mary's Sunday afternoon, with a SFU win ensuring they will remain in the top four in the NEC standings.
