First-Place Knights Head to Sacred Heart for Four Games

TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team returns to the road to square off against Sacred Heart for a four-game series beginning on Thursday afternoon.

The Knights (8-14, 6-1 NEC) are coming off a four-game sweep last weekend of Mount St. Mary's and now find themselves atop the Northeast Conference standings.

Over the weekend, the Knights featured a great balance of pitching and hitting as the team received four solid starts beginning with Logan Frati's Friday night gem.

The senior set the tone by providing the Knights eight strong innings and holding the visiting Mountaineers to just two runs.

Senior first baseman Ryan Brennan provided the Knights not only an offensive lift but also got it done on the mound as he closed out the first two games by pitching a pair of scoreless frames.

For his effort, which saw him plate seven runs and score six to go along with a .571 batting average, Brennan netted NEC Player of the Week honors.

However, Brennan was not alone as the team received major contributions from up and down the lineup including junior third baseman Bobby Romano, who launched a pair of home runs in the series finale in a perfect 5-for-5 afternoon.

The Pioneers from Sacred Heart (8-22, 2-3 NEC) are fresh off a 9-6 non-conference win at Yale. The team pounded 12 hits led by designated hitter Austin Markmann's 3-for-5 effort.

This weekend's series is the first NEC matchup for the Pioneers since they dropped a doubleheader at Bryant back on April 2. The Bryant sweep set off a string of eight straight losses for the Pioneers prior to Wednesday's win at Yale.
