SOMERSET, N.J. -- After propelling the Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team to a four-game sweep of Mount St. Mary's last weekend, senior first baseman
Ryan Brennan was named Northeast Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Brennan's play was the catalyst for the Knights' four-game NEC sweep of the Mountaineers. The senior slugger accounted for a .625 on-base percentage at the plate and added two saves from the mound over the course of the weekend series.
Over the four-game stretch, Brennan batted .571 (8-for-14) with three doubles, two walks, seven RBI, six runs scored and two stolen bases. He produced at least one hit and multiple runs in all four victories.
After senior right-hander
Logan Frati provided the Knights eight strong innings on Friday night, Brennan came on and closed things out for his fellow fourth-year letterman and preserved the 5-2 victory.
In game one of Saturday's doubleheader, Brennan took to the mound again to close out the game with a scoreless seventh inning for his third save of the season. Brennan singled, walked and scored twice in Game 3 of the series, helping FDU erase a 4-0 deficit in an eventual 6-5 victory. Leading off the seventh inning of a 5-5 game, Brennan earned a base on balls and proceeded to steal second base before scoring the winning run on
Jorge Iza's one-out single.
Brennan closed out the weekend with an offensive explosion during Sunday's series finale. He went 5-for-5 with three doubles, four RBI and three runs in a 15-2 rout.
The Knights return to action this Thursday, April 13 when they begin a four-game series in Fairfield, Connecticut against Sacred Heart.
