BOGOTA, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team defeated Colgate University on Sunday afternoon at the Bogota Racquet Club.
 
The Knights improve to 2-2 on the year after defeating the Raiders 5-2.
 
On the doubles side, the duo of Pedro Carvalho and Diogo Garnel defeated Jake Hirschberg and Win Reynolds, 6-4. Danilo Vukotic and Adam Chan also picked up a win, defeating Bobby Alter and Dean Koman, 6-4. Jacob Whalley and Gonzalo Quintana fell just short to Jacob Daugherty and Noah Rosenblat, 6-4.
 
The Knights earned four wins in singles action.
 
Whalley defeated Daugherty 6-4, 6-1 while Quintana beat Hirschberg 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. Carvalho took down Rosenblat 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(1) and Chan topped Reynolds 3-6, 7-5, (10-8).
 
Vukotic fell to Alter 6-4, 1-6, (10-6) while Garnel was downed by Alec Dardis 8-5.
 
"Colgate showed a lot of grit," said Brandes. "It was a very close match and really could have gone either way. Fortunately we got enough breaks to come out on top."
 
Fairleigh Dickinson is back in action on Friday when the team travels to face St. John's at USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. The match is slated to start at 10 a.m.
