Women's Basketball Welcomes Stony Brook to the Rothman Center Sunday

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball team seeks a 4-0 start to the campaign when it hosts Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. inside the Rothman Center. 

QUICK HITTERS
The Knights are 3-0 to start a season for the first time since 1996-97. That season, FDU started 4-1 in its first five games. 

The Knights own three of the NEC's seven wins as a league this season. LIU Brooklyn has two and Sacred Heart and St. Francis Brooklyn are both 1-1. 

Seven of the Knights' next 10 games before the calendar flips are at the Rothman Center. The three road games are at Longwood, Howard and Rutgers.

SERIES SCORE
FDU and Stony Brook have met five times (SB leads 3-2). The first meeting came back in the 2002-03 season. Sunday with be the third time that two sides have squared off in the Rothman; each team has won once in the previous two meetings. Stony Brook won the last time these two played; 68-58 in 2013-14. 

LAST TIME OUT
Fairleigh Dickinson hung on to beat NJIT, 74-70, on Thursday night. The Knights led by as many as 14 in the second half but NJIT whittled it down to two with less than 10 seconds left. Madelynn Comly hit two free throws with one second remaining to secure the win. The Knights scored their final seven points from the charity stripe. Comly and Amina Markovic had 17 points to lead the way. Lauren Francillon came off the bench and notched her first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in 23 minutes. 

ABOUT STONY BROOK
The Seawolves sit at 2-0 on the young season. Those wins came against Manhattan to start things and then Hofstra on Tuesday. Stony Brook has not allowed over 60 points in either game this season. Jerell Matthews leads the offense at 17 ppg and Shania Johnson is close behind at 16.5. Cheyenne Clark is the leader on the backboards for the Seawolves at 7.0 per game. 

NEED A NEW COAT OF PAINT
The Knights have averaged 32.7 points in the paint through three games. FDU scored 30 in the lane against the Highlanders on Thursday. 

BENCH SCORING
Lauren Francillon is third on the team in points per game at 12.7 points off the bench for the Knights. The sophomore averages 21.3 minutes per game. As a team, FDU is getting 19.7 points per game from its reserves. 

NEW FOUND TOUCH
FDU has shot over 44% from the field in a game twice this season already, which equals the total from last season. FDU is shooting over 47% for the year through three games. The same can be said for the Knights from three. FDU is hitting 38% of this attempts from behind the arc this season compares to 26% a season ago.
