HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball seeks a 3-0 start to the season when the Knights battle NJIT on Thursday night down in Newark.
QUICK HITTERS
The Knights start a season at 2-0 for the first time since the 1996-97 season when the Knights start 3-0 with wins over Manhattan, Delaware State and Colgate.
FDU was the only Northeast Conference team to record a win over the first three days of play. LIU Brooklyn was the second team to get a win when the Blackbirds beat Saint Peter's on Tuesday night.
FDU hits the road for the first time on Thursday at NJIT. The Knights were 4-12 away from the Rothman Center. FDU did win its last trip to NJIT, back in the 2015-16 season.
SERIES SCORE
FDU and NJIT will meet for the 11th time on Thursday. The Knights are 3-2 in the last five meetings with the win back in 2015-16 ending a two-game win streak for NJIT in the series. FDU is 3-2 all-time in Newark.
LAST TIME OUT
Fairleigh Dickinson scored 17 of the final 22 points to erase a 10-point deficit against Army and win 58-56. Lauren Francillon tied the game with a three-pointer with 12 seconds left. Army was issued a technical for having six players on the court on the ensuing possession and Natalie Zamora hit a free throw to give FDU a 57-56 lead with 12 seconds left. Francillon would record three blocks--two on the final possession-- and hit a free throw to secure the win. Francillon finished the night with a career high four blocks and 10 points.
ABOUT NJIT
The Highlanders enter Thursday at 0-2 following losses to South Dakota State and North Dakota State to open the season. NJIT was picked sixth in the Atlantic Sun Preseason Poll. Tatianna Torres and Amarri Trueheart are averaging 10 even through the first two games of the season to lead the squad. Dez Allen is the top rebounder for NJIT at 6.5 through two games.

FDU and Army committed 55 fouls and shot 55 free throws on Monday night. The teams combined for 48 fouls and 47 free throws last year.
