ResultsSTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's track and field team competed at a quad meet on Wednesday at Wagner against fellow Northeast Conference schools; St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU Brooklyn and Wagner.
The Knights swept the throwing events.
Decoda Simpson (Kingston, Jamaica/St. Andrews) won the shot put and the discus and
Naomi Hines (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mount Vernon) won the hammer. Simpson won the shot put with a best of 11.72m and the discus with a 41.77m effort. Hines claimed the top spot on the podium with a 50.70m throw in the hammer.
Ashli Weems (Millville, N.J./Millville) finished second in the both the discus and the hammer on the afternoon. Weems had a 34.55m mark in the discus and a 41.23m mark in the hammer to finish behind Simpson and Hines respectively.
Akua Addo (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) finished second in the shot put, third in the hammer and fifth in the discus. The sophomore set a new career-best in the hammer with a 35.74m throw.
Kristy Bono (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) was the lone track entry for the Knights. Bono finished third in the 1500m in a time of 5:23.50.
The Knights return to the track this weekend with some heading down to Hampton on Saturday and some competing at the US Merchant Maritime Academy on Sunday.Â
