HACKENSACK, N.J. - The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball takes to its home court for the first time in 2016-17 on Friday against Longwood. The Lancers come in at 0-2 with losses at Marquette and at Duke to open the season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in the Rothman Center.
OPENING TIP
FDU opens the 2016-17 home slate against Longwood. The 2010-11 season was the last time the Knights won their home opener.
SERIES SCORE
This will be first time the Knights and Lancers will face one another.
FDU vs. THE BIG SOUTH
The Knights are 2-1 all-time against current members of the Big South. Winthrop is the only other team from the Big South that FDU has faced.
LAST TIME OUT
FDU opened the 2016-17 season with an 83-56 loss at New Mexico. The Knights were led by Natalie Zamora and Kiana Brown, both of whom set new career-highs in points, 18 and 17 respectively. The Knights turned ball only 10 times but allowed the Lobos to shoot 40% (11-27) from three-point range.
BACK COURT PLAY
Guards Kiana Brown and Natalie Zamora led the Knights in scoring at New Mexico and both set new career highs in the process. Brown scored 17 (6-of-14) and Zamora had 18 (6-of-10).
COMING HOME
Natalie Zamora had a career day in front over 150 family and friends in her first game in New Mexico since high school. The sophomore had career highs in points, field goals made (6), field goals attempted (10), three-pointer made (5), three-pointers attempted (9).
70 or 60>
The Knights' scored at least 70 points in all 11 wins a season ago and went 5-0 when allowing less than 60 points to the opposition.
FRESH FACES
Five newcomers will be making their collegiate debuts this season for the Knights. All five will compete for minutes left by the Erika Livermore and Kelsey Cruz.
HOME COOKING
The Knights finished 8-8 at home last season. It was the first time in since the 2010-11 season (10-4) that the Knights were .500 or better at home. The Knights went 6-3 in NEC play at home.
