Key Weekend Awaits as Knights Host Sacred Heart visit Bryant

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson women's soccer team will take on Sacred Heart and Bryant this weekend with all three teams tied for second in the Northeast Conference standings with six points.

LAST TIME OUT
The Knights improved to 2-0 in NEC play on Sunday with a 1-0 road win over Wagner. Freshman Meghan Griffin (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) scored her career goal in the 43rd minute to provide the difference. Classmate, Amanda Fitzgerald (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) notched her first career shutout.

SERIES SCORE
Fairleigh Dickinson owns an 8-7-2 record over Sacred Heart all-time. The Knights have won two straight and are 2-0-1 in the last three meetings since losing four straight in the series. Sunday's meeting will be the eighth all-time between Bryant and Fairleigh Dickinson. The sides have split the previous seven, 3-3-1. The Knights have taken the last three from the Bulldogs and have not surrendered a goal in those three contests.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Sacred Heart comes into the match up on Friday night at University Stadium with a 5-4-3 overall record and a perfect 2-0 record in NEC play. The Pioneers are 4-1-1 in their last six and have allowed just one goal over that span. Melanie DaSilva leads the team in goals (3) and points (7) this season. Three other Pioneers have four points and a total of 11 different players have tallied at one point this season. Sophomore, Nicole Sambuco has played all 1,154 minutes in goal for Sacred Heart and sports an 0.94 goals against average and a .836 save percentage.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Bryant will play at Mount St. Mary's on Friday before hosting the Knights on Sunday afternoon up in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Currently, the Bulldogs are 6-7 and 2-1 in the NEC. Three players are tied for the team lead with six points for Bryant. Kianna Woods—one of the three players with six points—leads the team with three goals. Four different Bulldogs have two assists in 2016. Kaylan Conrad has played all but 69 minutes in goal and owns an 1.05 goals against average and a .800 save percentage.

FIRST CLEAN SHEET
Freshman Amanda Fitzgerald (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) made 10 saves at Wagner on Sunday to record her first shutout of the season and her career. It was the third straight game in which she lowered goals against average.

With the win on Sunday, the Knights have now won 12 games against NEC foes and 10 straight conference games (the two wins in the NEC tournament do not count as conference games).

16 NEC WINS
Head coach Eric Teepe won his 16th NEC game on Sunday, which ties him for second-most in program history. Teepe is 16-1-1 in NEC play during the regular season in his two-plus seasons at Fairleigh Dickinson.

FAST NEC STARTS
The Knights will try to remain undefeated through its first three NEC games for the third time in four seasons; 3-0 last season, 2-1 in 2014 and 2-0-1 in 2013.

KNIGHTS AMONG NEC LEADERS
Sophomore Elma Kolenovic (New York, N.Y./NYC Lab) leads the league in goals (6), points (14) and points per game (1.27). Jessi Reinhardt (Freiburg, Germany/Burggymansium) is tied for third in points with 10 and tied for the league in assists (4). Amanda Fitzgerald (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) is tied for the league lead in saves with 83.
