HACKENSACK, N.J. – Head coach Peter Cinella has filled out his coaching staff for the 2015-16 season with the hiring of Brian Sansom.

Cinella said, "We are very excited to add Brian to our staff. He has a lot of experience with coaching both men's and women's basketball teams and was most recently the recruiting director for Montclair State, under a very good head coach in Karin Harvey. Brian brings a great knowledge on the court and working with the student-athletes off the court as well as an aptitude for recruiting.

Sansom was on staff at Montclair State from 2012 to 2015. There he was the recruiting coordinator for the Redhawks. Sansom helped recruit the student-athletes that helped Montclair go 107-14 over the last four seasons.

Sansom said Monday "I am excited for the new opportunity at FDU, and looking forward to the upcoming season and the new challenge of coaching at the Division I level. I would like to thank coach Cinella for the opportunity and I hope to share some of my knowledge and skills with the coaching staff and our student-athletes."

Prior to Montclair, Sansom was an assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Sansom spent 2005-08 as an assistant for the women's team where his duties included recruiting, player development and fundraising. During his time at Pitt-Bradford, he also served as the interim men's head coach and held the same position during the 2009-10 with the women.

The Grove City, Pennsylvania native graduated from Pitt-Bradford in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Sports and Recreation Management and earned his master's degree in Sports Management Studies from California University of Pennsylvania in 2011. 

The 2015-16 women's basketball season starts on November 13 when the Knights travel to NJIT.
