TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team will host Wagner College this weekend in a Northeast Conference baseball series. The Knights (7-12, 1-3 NEC) and Seahawks (9-11-1, 2-2 NEC) will play all four games of the series at the Naimoli Family Baseball Complex in Teaneck.
The teams are scheduled to play a single nine inning game on Friday at 3 p.m., two seven inning games on Saturday and a single nine inning game on Sunday. Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. and Sunday is also a 1 p.m. start.
The Knights have dropped the series to Wagner the last two years after winning it in head coach
Gary Puccio's first two seasons. Puccio is 8-8 against Wagner in his career at FDU.
Heating Up – Five FDU starters hit .333 or better over the first weekend of NEC play. Senior
Riley Moonan (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero North) led the group with a .462 batting average, junior
Patrick McClure (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius ) hit at a .400 clip, senior
Shane Siebler (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) connected for a .385 mark, sophomore
Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ) hit .375 and junior
John Giakas (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) posted a .333 average for the series.
Stealing Bases – The Knights also flashed speed on the bases with three players recording a pair of stolen bases in the series. Moonan, Siebler and McCann each swiped two bags and combined to steal six bags in seven attempts on the weekend.
