Box Score TEANECK, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team fell to Wagner on Friday afternoon in the opening game of a four game Northeast Conference series. The Knights (7-13, 1-4 NEC) were unable to overcome an 11-run fourth inning by the Seahawks (10-11-1, 3-2 NEC) in the 15-5 setback.
Sophomore
Matt McCann (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro ) and junior
Dylan Sprague (Brunswick, N.Y./Averill Park) set the table for the Knights at the top of the lineup with multi-hit games. McCann went three-for-four at the plate with two runs batted in and a run scored. Sprague was two-for-five with a run score.
Junior
Joel Roman (East Hartford, Conn./East Hartford)o also drove in a pair with a two-run single in the sixth inning.
Senior
Joe Borelli (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan ) started on the mound and surrendered nine runs, eight earned in 3.2 innings. He falls to 0-4 on the season with the loss.
Wagner led 4-3 after three innings of play, but broke the game open with an 11-run fourth inning. However, after the fourth the Knights were able to hold Wagner off the scoreboard.
Nolan Long started for Wagner and allowed three runs in four innings. Nick Pavia came on in relief and pitched the final five innings to earn the victory.
The series will resume on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
