The next batter, Brennan, put the Knights in front for good with a two-strike single up the middle that scored McCann and Sprague.
"We got out played for all but one inning, but we made it count," head coach Gary Puccio said after the game. "Our guys didn't give up. They hung in and put together some timely hits to win that game."
"We definitely still have a lot of work to do. We are making too many mistakes that we need to clean up if we are going to be a consistently successful baseball team," Puccio added.
Senior Eric Snyder (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) earned the victory for the Knights pitching 1.2 innings of relief. He entered the game with bases loaded and one out in the eighth, walked the first batter he faced forcing in a run, and then struck out back-to-back Peacock hitters to work out of the jam.
After FDU grabbed the lead in the bottom of the eighth, Snyder returned to the mound and worked a scoreless ninth to secure the victory.
Snyder allowed no runs and no hits. He did walk two batters, but struck out three.
Junior Logan Frati (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport/South Manor) came on in relief in the third inning and kept the Knights in the game with 4.2 solid innings. He limited Saint Peter's to just two runs, one earned, while scattering seven hits. He did not walk a batter and posted five strike outs.
