Last Time Out: The Fairleigh Dickinson men's basketball team dropped a wild 96-85 game against Army West Point on Wednesday night. The contest was marked by fast play on both sides as Army and FDU both looked to run up and down the floor. FDU forced Army into 25 turnovers, including 11 steals, but the Black Knights' hot shooting (64.8%) and three-point shooting (52.2%) were enough to hold off a second half comeback attempt by the Knights. FDU was led by 22 points from sophomore
Darian Anderson (Washington, D.C./St. John's College ) and a 13-point, five-steal performance by sophomore
Earl Potts Jr. (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding ) The Knights cut Army's lead to just five points with less than four minutes to play, but the Black Knights' quickly answered with Kyle Wilson connecting on back-to-back three pointers. Wilson finished the game with 36 points.
Coach G on the Army Game: "I am really proud of my team. We fought really, really hard to get back into the game, but their experience was just too much for us tonight. We turned them over 25 times, but they were relentless and just kept on coming. This is part of the maturation process. I love my group - it's just going to be a matter of time before this team grows up and starts winning these types of games." –
Greg Herenda after the game.
"I was on the staff at Holy Cross that won the first ever Patriot League championship and if there is a better Patriot League player (Kyle Wilson) I would be very surprised. When we cut it to five he just delivered, like all of the great ones do." –
Greg Herenda on Kyle Wilson's performance.
