HACKENSACK, N.J. –
Fairleigh Dickinson head men's basketball coach Greg Herenda will welcome the husband and wife sports writing duo of Bergen Record sports writer Jeff Roberts and Newsday writer Kimberley Martin. Both will join Coach G and co-host Kenny O'Boyle on Sunday, Nov. 1.Roberts shadowed Herenda and the FDU men's basketball program over a three day span last Janurary. Martin joined
Newsday in 2007 after working at the Bergen Record as a local sports coordinator for five years. At
Newsday she has covered everything from local sports to the Super Bowl. She is currently the paper's beat writer for the New York Jets.
In 2011, she was named the National Association of Black Journalists' "Emerging Journalist of the Year" for her outstanding achievement and balanced coverage of the black community and society at large.
She received her B.A. in Psychology and African American Studies from Wesleyan University in 2003 and her M.A. in Newspaper, Magazine & Online Journalism from Syracuse University in 2006.
Roberts has worked as a senior writer at the
Bergen Record since 2011. Prior to that he was a specialty writer for T
he Record for three years and served as the sports editor at the Herald News.
He started his career at the
Bergen Record by spending five years as a local sports coordinator.
A 1999 graduate of St. Peter's College, Roberts has earned numerous honors and awards for his work. He earned NJPA first place for sports writing portfolio in 2012, 2011 and 2009. He also earned the NJPA first place for scholastic sports writing portfolio in 2009, 2008 and 2006. In 2009 and 2010, he was honored with the NJSPJ first place sports reporting award.
