HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's basketball dropped a tough home Northeast Conference contest, 62-61, to Central Connecticut State. With the loss, the Knights fall to 2-26 (1-16 NEC) on the season while the Blue Devils improve to 11-16 (5-12 NEC) overall.
CCSU jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the early going with FDU players struggling to find their shots. Sophomore
Kelsey Cruz (Chester, Va./Lloyd C. Bird) would score the game's next six points and the Knights would take the lead, 14-13, minutes later.
FDU finished the first half on a 32-17 run.
The Blue Devils continued to battle and cut their deficit to 1 point several times over the first seven minutes.

Brianna Thomas (Baldwin, N.Y./St. John the Baptist Diocesan) layup, with the score 44-43, sparked a 11-0 FDU run to push the score to 55-43.
Central Connecticut State brought on sophomore Raven Makins who helped spark a 17-3 run and to give her team its first lead since early in the first stanza.
Cruz hit a 3-pointer with 37 seconds left to retake the lead, 61-60, but CCSU senior Jessica Babe drew a shooting foul and hit both of her freebies, including the game-winner, with 20 seconds left.
FDU outshot the Blue Devils 38.1% to 37.7% in an even battle on both ends of the floor. The two teams also combined for 45 turnovers with CCSU committing one more, 23-22. The Knights were outrebounded 46-35 and the visitors snared 22 offensive rebounds and enjoyed several second-chance opportunities as a result.

Brianna Thomas (Baldwin, N.Y./St. John the Baptist Diocesan) also had a terrific game with 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
For the Blue Devils, sophomore Amanda Harrington scored 16 points along with a full line and senior Lauren Arbogast finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.
FDU will finish the 2013-14 season with Senior Night on Monday night, March 3rd, against Sacred Heart. Tipoff from Stratis Arena is slated for 7 p.m. with pregame ceremonies starting at 6:50 p.m.
