W. Fencing at NJIT Invite on Sunday

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's fencing team (7-15) will be competing in Newark, N.J. on Sunday at the NJIT Invitational. The Knights will face off against Queens, Army, NJIT, Rutgers and Lafayette at the Fleischer Athletic Center, with the first bout scheduled for 10 a.m.

FDU last competed at the Northwestern Duals on Feb. 1 and 2, where it picked up wins against Cal Tech, Lawrence and Cleveland State. The foil squad led the way, posting a 7-3 record over 10 matches. Redshirt sophomore Nadine Abdelaziz (Bayonne, N.J./) led the team with a 24-6 record, while freshman Anna Braun (Neuss, Germany/) went 23-7. Senior Hanna Heldenmuth (Miami, Fla./Keystone National) was the top performer in the sabre, going 18-12 on the weekend. Junior Yeliz Inalman (Fort Lee, N.J./Fort Lee) had 11 wins in epee, the most by a Knights' fencer possessing that weapon.

FDU returns to action on March 1 at the NIWFA Championships in West Point, N.Y.
