FDU FALLS TO SAINT PETER'S 69-60

Box Score

Jersey City, NJ – The FDU Knights fell to 4-6 on the season with a 69-60 loss to New Jersey rival Saint Peter's this afternoon in the Yanitelli Center on the Saint Peter's campus.  The loss drops the FDU record to 4-6 on the year while the Peacocks improve to 5-7.

"That game was truly a tale of 2 halves.  We played the half that we envisioned going into the game but Saint Peter's trumped us in the most important 20 minutes," said Knight's head coach Greg Herenda.  "I couldn't be prouder of my guys after this ten game stretch.  We played an extremely difficult schedule and these games will prove to make us a really good basketball team in conference play.  Our best days are ahead of us."

Tied at 60 with 1:24 to play, Saint Peter's closed the game out with a 9-0 run hitting 7 of 8 free throws in that period to determine the margin of victory. The Peacocks converted 17-of-28 from the line, while the Knights were good on 9-of-13 from the charity stripe.

FDU was led by senior captain Mustafaa Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) who scored a game-high tying 18 points. Freshman Darian Anderson (Washington, D.C./St. John's College ) added 14 points while junior Xavier Harris (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution) rounded out the Knight's scoring in double figures with 10 points and a team best eight rebounds.

The Knights will return to action on December 29th as they head to Maryland to take on Towson before opening up Northeast Conference play on January 3rd at Central Connecticut.
