Box Score

Queens, NY -   The FDU men's basketball team fell to 3-5 on the season with a 74-52 loss to No. 24 St. John's this evening in Carnesecca Arena on the Jamaica Campus.  The victory pushes the Red Storm record to 7-1 on the year.

"I am really proud of my team tonight," said Knights head coach Greg Herenda.  "The team played hard but we didn't make shots.  They key to this game was for us to make shots and find a way to prevent St. John's from getting shots."

Trailing by 14 (39-25) at intermission, the Knights cut the Red Storm lead to 10 on two different occasions, the last coming at 7:57 to play when Marques Townes (Edison, N.J./St. Joseph (Metuchen)) capped a 5-0 Knights run, spanning 2:10, with a driving lay-up.  St. John's responded with a 13 -2 run of its own capped by a 3-pointer by D'Angelo Harrison at the 3:00 mark that extended St. John's lead to 21 (68-47) and allowed the Red Storm to coast to the win.

FDU was led by senior captain Mustafaa Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) who finished with a team-high 18 points and four assists.  Junior Xavier Harris (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution) rounded out the Knights in double figures with 13 points and a team-best 8 rebounds.

The Knights, who will not see action for 10 days because of final exams, will return to action on Saturday, December 20th, as the Knights host Delaware in the Rothman Center at 2 p.m.
