W. Indoor T&F Concludes NYC Gotham Cup in Eighth Place

NEW YORK -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's indoor track and field team concluded the NYC Gotham Cup, hosted by NYU, in eighth place on Friday, Jan. 11. The Knights compiled 34 points in the 13-team event, which was held at the New Balance Track and Field Center.

The biggest point producer for FDU was Keyana Hynds (Bronx, NY/A. Philip Randolph) in the mile run. The senior collected eight points after finishing the 41-competitor race in fifth place, with a time of 5:13:47.

The 5000 meter run saw sophomore Kristy Bono (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) cross the finish line in 10th place, as her time of 18:55:55 produced four points for the Knights.

Freshman Omawattie Singh (Queens, N.Y. /Boys and Girls) finished the 800 meter dash in the top half (out of 40), which gave FDU two points (2:30:89)

The biggest point total for the Knights came from the 4000 distance medley, which tallied 10 points with a third-place finish after concluding the race in 12:54:75.

Freshman Ashli Weems (Millville, N.J./Millville) came up big in the shot put, as her toss of 10.95 meters tacked on six more points. She also placed ninth out of 26 competitors.

Senior Tayona Brown (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) added five more points in the long jump after leaping 5.29 meters, which was also good enough for ninth place (out of 44).

FDU will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the NYU Saturday Night Shootout.
