HOLMDEL, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's cross country team traveled down the Garden State Parkway to compete in the Monmouth Invitational at Holmdel Park Saturday morning.
The Knights were once again led by sophomore
Darrel Gooding (Somerset, N.J./Franklin Township), who finished the five-mile race in eighth place out of 48 runners with a time of 27:07:56.Â
Freshman
Dayron Brown (Millville, N.J./Millville) was the next FDU finisher, completing the course with a time of 31:45.64, taking almost a full minute off of his time from the Fordham Fiasco two weeks ago.Â
Junior
Cody Shave (Amsterdam, N.Y./Fonda-Fultonville), freshman
Kazeem Otun (Rahway, N.J./Rahway ) and senior
Frank Ortiz (Union City, N.J./Union City) finished back-to-back-to-back shortly behind Brown. Shave's 31:59.62 narrowly beat out Otun, who finished in 32:01.39. Ortiz crossed the finish line 20 seconds later, with a time 32:22.76.Â
Rounding out the field for the Knights was sophomore
Jenya Dyagilev (Almaty, Kazakhstan/Fort Lee, N.J.), completing the course in 34:32.34.Â
The Knights next compete on Saturday, Sept 28 at the Father Bede Invitational in Loretto, Pa. The event will take place at Immergrun Golf Course, the home turf of Saint Francis University.
